Parent Mentor
This position is responsible for supporting students and leading parent groups in helping Cameron to become the best community school in Chicago. Parent Mentors earn up to $ 1,000 stipend per year.
Job Duties
- Work to support students and teachers for 2 hours every day Monday-Thursday (not in your children's classrooms).
- Attend training with the Logan Square Neighborhood Association every Friday.
- Participate actively in the Cameron PAC and / or BAC.
- Welcomes and supports new Cameron families.
- Supports Cameron Family Events.
Qualifications
- Be a current Cameron parent.
- Ability to support Pk-4th Grade students with reading and math activities.
- Ability to work with teachers and other staff members AND to work independently to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Strong communication skills in English and / or Spanish (English speakers & Spanish speakers are encouraged to apply)
- Self-motivated with organizational and time management skills.

Parent Safety Team
This position is responsible for supervising students off the Cameron school grounds as they travel to school in the AM and home in the PM. Parent Safety Team Members earn $12/hour.
Job Duties
- Supervise students on your assigned block in the AM (7:30 am - 8:30 am) and PM (3:00 pm - 4:00 pm) every day.
- Ensure that students are engaging in safe behaviors in a calm and respectful manner.
- De-escalate potentially unsafe situations.
- Takes notes about issues and challenges and reports them to the Cameron Security Supervisor (Mr. Rodriguez).
Qualifications:
- Be a current Cameron parent or community member.
- Be punctual and reliable.
- Be able to de-escalate situations in a calm and respectful manner.
- Working cell phone.
- Strong communication skills in English and / or Spanish (English speakers & Spanish speakers are encouraged to apply)
- Self-motivated with organizational and time management skills.

PAC
Parent Advisory Council
Purpose:
Advises principal on school policies; leads parent involvement work
Meetings:
Monthly, last Friday of each month
The purpose of the Parent Advisory Council (PAC) is to provide parents/legal guardians, teachers, staff, and the local community the opportunity to collaborate with the principal by providing input on amendments and future Title I programs.
BAC
Bilingual Advisory Committee
Purpose:
Advises principal on Bilingual Program; supports parent involvement work
Meetings:
Monthly, last Thursday of each month
