Third Grade Room 304

Hello Cameron Families! My name is Megan Durkee.  I grew up in the Chicago suburbs and have lived in the area my whole life. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Education from North Park University and my master’s degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. I also hold my English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsement and my LBS1 endorsement in special education.

I have been teaching for 10 years, all at Cameron Elementary School. During that time, I have taught both 3rd and 4th grade, and I truly love working with my students and their families. In addition to teaching, I co-coach both the girls’ and boys’ soccer teams and the wrestling team at Cameron. Coaching has given me another way to connect with students outside the classroom and watch them grow as teammates and leaders.

Outside of school, I am a proud dog mom to two pups—Raven, my sweet Australian Shepherd, and Rocky, my playful Rottweiler puppy. I love cheering for the Chicago Bears, playing and watching soccer, and exploring the city. My favorite days are spent outdoors, enjoying time with friends and family.

Cameron has truly become my second home, and I hope to continue teaching here for many years, inspiring students, creating engaging lessons, and building a strong Cameron community!
